Enough difference to make it fresh, I restarted a new char so I didn't have to mess with respec's.īut this latest NGE crap went way to far. Ya know, I hopped into SWG shortly after it was released, played for a good 6 months, took a break and came back to it just after the CU (Combat Upgrade). Yes, but what really mistifies me is how they can even think the 1992 Catle Wolfenstein feel is good. Oh, I'm Van'cali from Eclipse among other full temp characters.Įx-SWG player and non-supporter of the NGE Now I'm back to the place where expansions don't cost $30 and the bugs are kept at a minimum by a dev team that actually cares. I played EVE shortly after release for about a year, then went to SWG. Yeah, here and WOW would be where most of the servers will go. Of course, I'm the one who was curious, so I'd hope I'd want to hear it. And pretty much everybody who bought the game before the changes.Īs for the length, it was quite fine for me. I did say I'd try to keep it brief, but thenm, you did ask for two years worth of agony too. They eliminated all item decay or wear from use and/or death from the game, and further simplified and limited crafters while they were at it as well. They went a step further and made what was originally end game content, "jedi" into a starting profession, so many that had spent years in attempting to progress towards the highest jedi ranks were now no more powerful or interesting to play than any basic starter profession. The new change eliminated any and all diveristy between characters by pidgeon holing players into one, and only one profession, and condensing those choices from 32 down to 9. The latest change tried forcing a real time FPS style combat system on top of the old system, which has resulted in keeping every bug which plagued the old system and introduced a litany of new ones. The first change was the CU, which made the game level instead of skill based, which basically killed crafter hybrids, and doomed pure crafters and entertainers to a life without meaning outside of a crafting interface, and placed 100% emphasis on master two combat classes. Crafting and support classes, were at one time competent participants in combat, as it was possible to be, for example, a Master Weaponsmith (crafter), and a Master Rifleman (long range combat) and be able to make a very substantial contribution to guild hunts or PVP events.īasically, there were enough skill point available to master two profession of your choice and enough to dabble into another field of your choice. SWG was, at it's core, a turn based combat sytem in real time featuring a pretty open profession leveling system which allowed for skills to be dropped and new skills learned. I can try to give you the short version, sure. Can any of you guys explain to me (or give me a link that explains it) in very "I have never played SWG" terms, what changed? Thanks to the EVE community in general for giving me and all of the other SWG refugees such a warm welcome.Īll this talk about the NGE thing is making me curious. I am so very pleased to see that I have found the game I should have been playing for the last year or so.Ĭareful vets, some of these noobs may have teeth Shout out to all my Commando brothers and sisters from either side of the so called GCW. K.I.A.: Killed In Apathy, by poor customer service, and bad game design at SOE/LA Master Commando, Alliance ace, Wookiee at large I'm formerly Stewi Crestlighter from Wanderhome.īeing a master shipwright I found the NGE just stuck it to crafters way to poorly. I wont go back till my jedi is uber again, rofl. Hopefully things will turn out better here!Īnd I. Why did they have to use the abbreviation NGE? It makes me think that an anime series attacked SWG and killed it.ĭon't get the reference in my sig? Click it. There's a load here, more coming every day. I don't mind the NGE combat style that much, but they also did away with a lot of that was still good in SWG (crafting and player economy and diversity of character development). Have been playing SWG since august 2003 but now I had enough of SOE's bad treatment of their customers. In fact I wish pre NGE SWG should have been more like Eve. I was on Starsider and my IGN was.(surprise, surprise) Kefra.īasically Eve offers everything that SWG lost and then some. I recently moved here from SWG and was wondering how many other made the switch after the NGE hit.
